چکیده

This paper describes a system for supporting the construction of software requirement models, which are initial computable models representing users’ requirements in software design. The system principally consists of two components, a system for aiding the formation of requirement concepts by visualizing a user’s thought space, and a knowledge-based system which automatically assembles the ascertained requirement concepts into a requirement model. The system extracts reusable components of a requirement model, corresponding to the users’ abstract requirement concept, from a store of similar past cases. The components are then automatically arranged using heuristic reasoning. By using the system, users can make their requirement concepts more mature, and simultaneously get computable requirement models as by-products. q 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Merging requirements from a set of ranked agents

Handling inconsistency is an increasingly important issue in data and knowledge engineering. A number of logic-based proposals have been made for handling aspects of inconsistency in beliefs (where we use beliefs as a general term to encompass representations of the real world) including belief revision theory, truth-maintenance, argumentation systems, and knowledgebase merging. In contrast, th...

Epsilon focusing--A strategy for active example selection

In most classical formulations of learning from examples, a passive learner is presented with examples randomly drawn. Here we discuss an-focusing strategy that actively choose examples for concept learning. We describe the local focused property that functions must have for such a strategy to work. Finally, we develop an example selection heuristic, motivated by-focusing, for training a comput...

A light-weight Web-at-a-Glance system for intelligent information retrieval

Web-at-a-Glance (WAG) is a system to assist the user in information retrieval and discovery by gleaning the most relevant information from a web site or several web sites. This paper presents this new approach for intelligent information retrieval from web sites, and describes the prototyping of the light-weight WAG system as an active index system. q 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. How to formalize it?: Formalization principles for information system development methods

Although the need for formalisation of modelling techniques is generally recognised, not much literature is devoted to the actual process involved. This is comparable to the situation in mathematics where focus is on proofs but not on the process of proving. This paper tries to accomodate for this lacuna and provides essential principles for the process of formalisation in the context of modell...
